About Us

Mr. Mayo-Smith is a private investor who focuses on sustainable investments and emerging markets. He is a founding partner at Climate Finance, and for the past two years has been working with Kraneshares to create the first ETF that creates a global price for carbon allowances.

Prior to starting Climate Finance, he worked for 35 years in Asia (Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Singapore). During that period he started a number of companies with a focus on real estate, private equity, and fund management.

He is the co-founder of Indochina Capital and its real estate division, Indochina Land, one of Vietnam’s premier real estate development firms which had a portfolio of assets (operating and under development) valued in excess of US $2 billion. Mr. Mayo-Smith also served as CEO of the Indochina Capital Vietnam Holdings Ltd from 2008 to 2010, a $470 million London listed equities fund. In the 1990’s he served as an advisor to Citicorp Capital and Morgan Stanley, with responsibility for sourcing investments in the Indochina region.

Mr. Mayo-Smith was the founding chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ho Chi Minh City from 1994-1995, where he was active in the normalization of relations between Vietnam and the United States. He served on the Board of Trustees of Hampshire College and is a member of the Board for NYU Stern School of Business.

He has an M.B.A. from New York University, a B.A. in Urban Planning and Environmental Design from Hampshire College, and he completed the Executive Program in Project Management at Harvard University.
