About Us

RMIT is a multi-sector university of technology, design and enterprise with more than 96,000 students and close to 10,000 staff globally. The University’s mission is to empower people and communities to adapt and thrive across generations with education, research and civic engagement that are applied, inclusive and impactful.

With strong industry connections forged over 136 years, collaboration with industry remains integral to RMIT’s leadership in education, applied and innovative research, and to the development of highly skilled, globally focused graduates.

In 1998, RMIT was invited by the Vietnam Ministry of Education & Training to open a university in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). The University was awarded the investment license in 2000, making RMIT the first fully-foreign university in Vietnam.

Starting with just over 30 students, RMIT Vietnam now boasts a dynamic student body of?12,000 (across HCMC, Hanoi and Da Nang), alumni of 20,000, and is now acting as a front door for Australia to enhance understanding and engagement with Southeast Asia. It is Australia’s largest university campus overseas, and the country’s biggest service investment in Vietnam.
